Grill Billyenz and SonOfKarl (Bloomington-Normal, IL) are channelling the underbelly of the subconscious.

“I’ve been thinkin’ alot about stoner metal,” Billyenz says as he plugs his bass into the amp that he bought from a dude at a gas station. “OM, Sleep, Weedeater... That kinda stuff.”

In a basement recording studio, Billyenz and SonOfKarl launch into an evening-length improvisation of cavernous proportions. Incorporating the droning doom metal of Sunn O))) and Earth, squelching wall-of-noise feedback, stripped-down bass riffs evoking Electric Wizard or Bongzilla in a deep-freeze, and avant-garde jazz percussion, Billyenz and SonOfKarl dug deep into the planet’s core and unearthed a rugged, raw diamond.

Let these jams crush you slowly and leave your Spirit intact.


About system|vector sessions
The system|vector sessions are a series of new collaborative arrangements of audio artists. Participating artists will enlist new collaborators to create a recording project. The recording will be the product of this fresh arrangement of artists. It will stretch, reposition, and open us as a new whole emerges.

Make a new friend. Plant a seed. Listen to something (or someone) unexpected. Become a node in an unheard network.
